Up for sale is a fantastic, self-collected cabinet-sized specimen of Precambrian Losee Gneiss, discovered in a wild ravine boulder field in Sussex County, New Jersey.
This is an authentic piece of the ancient New Jersey Highlands basement rock complex. In normal light, it features an attractive, coarse-grained granitic gneiss matrix displaying visible gneissic foliation bands.
When placed under a filtered Shortwave UV (254nm) light, the specimen comes alive with a beautiful, rich magenta-pink / lavender fluorescence across the primary face. The reactive areas are highly consistent with manganese-activated accessory fluorapatite or localized microcline feldspar pockets natively locked into the billion-year-old crust.
- Please note: The vibrant pink glow is activated strictly by Shortwave UV (254nm). It does not react under standard Longwave blacklight.
