Original antique real photo postcard (RPPC) featuring the historic South Shore Inn on Lake Wawasee near Syracuse, Indiana.
This beautiful early photograph captures the impressive lakeside resort property surrounded by mature shade trees and landscaped grounds. Two large buildings are visible, along with distinctive outdoor wooden lawn swings featuring striped canvas awnings. A person can be seen seated near one of the swings.
The South Shore Inn was part of Lake Wawasee’s early resort and vacation history, when visitors traveled to northern Indiana to enjoy the area’s lakes, hotels, and summer recreational opportunities.
An excellent architectural and historical image showcasing the resort buildings, period lawn furniture, and peaceful atmosphere of an early 20th-century Indiana lake retreat.
The photograph is identified along the bottom as “South Shore Inn, Lake Wawasee.”
The postcard was mailed July 10, 1931, from Marion, Indiana, to Mrs. M. M. Crooks at the City Hospital Nurses’ Home in Indianapolis. The reverse contains an extensive handwritten personal message and a one-cent Benjamin Franklin postage stamp.
An excellent addition to collections of Lake Wawasee, Syracuse, Kosciusko County, Indiana resort hotels, early tourism, and real photo postcards.
