Weighs 3 lb 2.7 oz (3.17 lb / 1,437 g) with everything packed inside.
The Argonath bookends are each roughly 6\" (6.0 in / 15.2 cm) tall, 4 1/2\" (4.5 in / 11.4 cm) wide, and 2 1/4\" (2.25 in / 5.7 cm) deep, measured through their packaging, so treat those as close estimates. The pair together with their tray weighs 2 lb 8 oz (2.5 lb / 1,134 g).What is included:
-Outer collector\'s box with stone-archway artwork, with quote \"The Argonath. Long Have I Desired to Look Upon the Kings of Old, My Kin.\" - Aragorn
-Pair of Argonath bookends, still in their original clear plastic tray with the plastic ties. Depicting brothers Isildur and AnĂ¡rion, the sons of Elendil. Also called Pillars of the Kings or the Gates of Argonath.
-National Geographic \"Beyond the Movie: The Fellowship of the Ring\" Special Edition DVD, in a snap case and sealed in plastic. The cover mentions two featurettes and a photo gallery.
-\"Special Hobbit-Sized Edition\" Lord of the Rings Fan Club Official Movie Magazine, sealed in its outer plastic with a \"Trial Member\" sticker on the cover. The cover promotes a Peter Jackson interview and \"Sauron Comes Alive.\"
-Decipher Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game promo pack, sealed inside the magazine\'s outer plastic. Collector references suggest a 3-card foil promo pack (0P12 to 0P14), but I can\'t confirm the cards since it is unopened.
-The Two Towers promo card that opens up into a Movie Cash voucher for one admission. It was valid only 12/18/02 to 12/31/02, expired memorabilia, no cash value.
-Printed paper insert for the Special Extended DVD Edition, describing the missing 4-disc set that is missing from this collection.Condition:
-The 4-disc Special Extended DVD Edition movie set is missing, and set holds only the paper insert for those DVDs.-Box shows general wear and age from storage, including creasing and edge and corner wear (see photos of each side and the base)
-Window openings are intact but a little dirty, and I left them as found
-Top lid is slightly flexed and not fully flat, as if it was stored with the contents pressing against it. The top flap still closes using its paper closure slot.
-Bookends are secured in their original tray with ties and were viewed through the packaging only.
-National Geographic DVD, magazine, and card pack are all sealed and were not opened.
-Promo card and voucher are expired paper ephemera.
-No cleaning or restoration was done, and everything is presented as foundHistory of Collector\'s Set:
The Fellowship of the Ring reached theaters in December 2001. This extended-edition gift set followed on November 12, 2002, according to collector reference sites. That was about five weeks before The Two Towers opened on December 18, 2002, which fits the dates on the voucher.
The Argonath are the giant carved stone kings that stand guard over the river passage the Fellowship travels through. Product descriptions from the era credit the bookends to Sideshow Weta, and the box artwork is described as illustrated by Alan Lee.Shipping:
Your set will be packed in a larger box with padding on all sides to protect the box and the heavy statues in transit. Bubblewrap has also been placed within the Collector\'s Set Box empty spaces to prevent movement in transit. Please Note:
I\'m a hobbyist collector, not a professional appraiser. I\'ve researched and photographed this set as thoroughly as I can. All measurements and condition notes are assessed to the best of my amateur ability. Please review every photo closely and reach out with any questions before buying. Thank you!
