In the introduction, the publisher writes about the “confiscation the books from ‘The People of the Book’” by the “evil men” who destroyed European Jewry and attempted to erase all Hebrew books. All Jewish books were taken to be processed or for some other lowly purpose…and therefore after liberation, the longing and thirst for books is great”. Originally only Tractates Kiddushin and Nedarim were printed, eventually in 1948 a complete set of Talmud was printed in Munich, featuring other illustrations than those in this original edition.An important expression of the Jewish people’s eternal bond with the Talmud even in the most distressing of times.Generally speaking, this edition was printed on low quality paper. This particular volume is printed on high quality paper!With stamps of Agudath Israel Heidenheim. From the library of R.
