This is an original hand-drawn political cartoon by Jerry Doyle (1898–1986), the prominent Philadelphia editorial cartoonist whose work was frequently published in the Philadelphia Record during the New Deal era.

The cartoon depicts the tensions between the Franklin D. Roosevelt and New Deal and organized labor during the turbulent mid-1930s. The subject is particularly relevant to the period surrounding the Wagner Act of 1935 and the growing divisions within the AFL.

Doyle was a prominent American editorial cartoonist and longtime Philadelphia newspaper artist, best known for his work with the Philadelphia Record. His cartoons addressed major political, economic and social issues of the 1930s and 1940s, including Roosevelt\'s New Deal, labor, fascism and World War II.

The original drawing remains strong and legible. The piece is currently protected in clear plastic, causing glare in photographs and limiting complete examination of the surface.
