The meaning of the handwritten “DC/69” notation is unknown. Research identifies this specific image as having been photographed at Joplin’s June 12, 1970 Freedom Hall concert, debut performance with the Full Tilt Boogie Band, so we are not representing “69” as the date of the photograph.
A striking vintage image of Joplin from one of her final months of live performances and an uncommon piece of Kentucky and rock-and-roll is mounted to an older backing board. The backing board has noticeable age and storage wear including scratches, scuffs, nail/pin holes, edge wear and damaged/chipped corners. Back shows age toning, staining/foxing and general wear.
The photographic print itself shows some surface wear and light scratches consistent with age. Please examine the close-up photos carefully.
Backing board could potentially be replaced or trimmed by a professional, but it is being sold exactly as found and has not been altered.
