Vintage modernist sterling silver belt buckle from the highly collectible "Versions" collection by acclaimed American jeweler Jack Woolsey (1940-2005). Woolsey learned traditional Navajo silversmithing techniques in Taos, New Mexico, and masterfully applied them to striking modernist designs using unique trade materials.
This Western ranger-style buckle features a raised cobblestone channel inlay consisting of fossilized bone/materials, black onyx/jet, and picture jasper. The natural mixed-stone wrap inlay is beautifully accented by a contrasting textured panel of variable-sized sterling silver bead granulation (raindrop shot).
