Irish Memorabilia Antique Thwaites Soda Centenary Enamel Advertising Ashtray For Sale

This wonderfully evocative antique advertising ashtray is a charming survivor from the golden age of turn-of-the-century commercial advertising, combining bold period graphics with an authentically timeworn surface.Constructed of metal with an enamel overlay, the ashtray was produced to commemorate the centenary of Thwaites’ Soda Water, 1799–1899. The white enamel ground is decorated with striking period typography in black and red, surrounding a central illustration of an early soda water bottle. The dates 1799 and 1899 flank the design, while “Thwaites’,” “Soda Water,” and “Centenary” create an eye-catching composition that remains highly decorative more than a century later.The shaped rim incorporates several cigarette rests, reinforcing its original purpose as an advertising ashtray intended for use in a pub, hotel, club, shop, or similar commercial setting.
