How many cups of espresso this 6-1/8\" H. pot will produce is up to you. It depends on the size of the pour you enjoy. Some people enjoy a small cup and others larger. An average cup is 2 to 3 oz. The bottom section holds 7 oz. of water. Never fill with water past the safety valve. Another tip...always start with hot water. If you start with cold water the longer brewing time will make your espresso bitter. Just be careful handling once the hot water is in there. More...
This is a vintage used pot. There are no bends or dents. The lid opens and closes easily. The top and bottom turn easily to connect and it stays shut. Made of heavy, shiny stainless steel 18/10. Clean. No wobble. Rests perfectly flat. There is darkening of the steel on and around the bottom from use. There are scratches on the very bottom from being on the burner. Some small mars and faint scratches on the body. There is one vertical, perfectly straight line on the top portion as purchased and as manufactured (see last magnified photo). It\'s there, but I don\'t feel it draws the eye. I just want to be upfront. You deserve to know everything so you can make an informed decision. I hope I haven\'t talked you out of this! Overall this is a wonderful 42 year old pot. More...
I am also including 3 new rubber gaskets (one is in the pot). I paid $7.69 way back when. Today the gaskets sell for $16.00 to $20.00! Yikes! So this is a plus! The pot can be used on either electric or gas burners. I have used it on both. Depending upon the design of your gas burner you may need to use a diffuser to keep the pot steady. More...
My husband and I (though my I/D is Wally I am a woman lol) originally had the Neopolitan style where you flip the pot over. Well that sure was fun ;-). So in 1981 we purchased this pot new. No more flipping! If you visit the company history on the Ilsa website you\'ll note this style began in 1980 and has the bottom of the handle turning inward toward the pot. That design is no longer made. Through the years we made many pots of espresso. Now it\'s your turn! Be sure to add a bit of Sambuca or Anisette ;-)
