After the great success of his first restaurant in Oakland, the Trader opened a second restaurant in the lobby of the old Ben Franklin Hotel in downtown Seattle. I worked at the Seattle Trader Vic\'s at night as Maitre d\' in the 1970\'s while in college.
During that time, I collected a number ofTrader Vic pieces. I only bought the best quality. Many were purchased right out of the shipping box and were never used jn the restauant or lounge. This Tahitian Mug was purchased used but is in excellent condition as you can see from the photographs. I am in the process of liquidating my personal collection of Trader Vic memorabilia and I am sorry to part with this one.
The Tahitian Mug was used to serve the Pinky Pooh and the Honi Honi cocktails. It is an extremely popular Trader Vic\'s piece and has a sort of cult following. The reason is the story that is painted on the side of the mug. In it, a native man is chasing a native woman into the water, trying to pull her top off. He suceeds in rendering her topless and she slaps him in the face for his effort. In the end, however, they make up with sex on the beach.
This mug is mug is 4\" high and 4\" in diameter. It is in excellent condition, without chips, cracks or any damage to the painted sceneson the sides. On the bottom it says \"TRADER VIC\'S COPYRIGHT 1963.\"
I have enjoyed this piece in my display case for several decades. Now it is someone else\'s turn. I will enclose drink recipes for the Hono Honi and Pinky Pooh with the mug when it is shipped to the lucky buyer.
