ITEM DESCRIPTION

This Figurine Is In Excellent Vintage Condition With No Chips, No Cracks, And No Repairs. This wonderful Howard Pierce California Pottery figurine depicts a stylized howling coyote with its long neck extended and mouth open in a classic desert pose. Finished in Pierce\'s distinctive softly blended brown, tan, and ivory glaze, the sculpture has the simple flowing lines and understated Mid-Century Modern styling for which his animal figures are so well known. The base is clearly marked \"HOWARD PIERCE,\" confirming its authenticity. Coyotes were among the desert animals that inspired Pierce\'s work, making this an especially appealing example for collectors of vintage California pottery.

PATTERN & DESIGN

Howard Pierce became known for graceful animal sculptures characterized by simple, flowing forms and distinctive satin glazes. Working from his Southern California studio, Pierce personally developed his designs, molds, clay bodies, and glazes, and his brown-on-white satin finishes became one of the recognizable hallmarks of his work. Wildlife was a continuing source of inspiration, with coyotes becoming particularly associated with Pierce and his later desert surroundings. Today his distinctive animal figurines are highly collectible examples of Mid-Century California ceramic design. 

This measures 5 7/8\" High x 2 1/2\" Wide base. I have provided a lot of pictures to best describe the condition of this Figurine.
