Vintage Hotel Conewago Mt Gretna PA Postcard 1920s Posted Franklin Stamp Rare
This is a rare vintage postcard featuring the historic Hotel Conewago in Mt. Gretna, Pennsylvania. The card depicts a lively lakeside scene with visitors enjoying Lake Conewago from the hotel grounds, offering a great glimpse into early 20th-century leisure and travel.
The postcard is an original from the White Border Era (circa 1915–1930) and measures approximately 5.75\" x 3.25\", a slightly non-standard size. It has been postmarked and includes a Benjamin Franklin stamp dating to around 1926 or slightly earlier, adding to its authenticity and collectible appeal.
Hotel Conewago no longer exists, having been demolished several decades later, which makes memorabilia like this increasingly scarce and desirable for collectors of lost landmarks and Pennsylvania history.
Condition:
Excellent for its age. The card is free of creases, folds, or major staining. There is a small ink marking on the back (postage side), and some natural age-related toning/yellowing of the paper, which is typical for postcards of this era.
Rarity & Notes:
Postcards from this location are difficult to find, especially examples that are postmarked and stamped in such well-preserved condition. I have only come across one other example of this exact card in years of collecting, which had a blank back and sold for nearly $70. This is the only posted example I’ve personally handled.
