Martinka Template Herb Zarrow: A Lifetime of Magic by David Ben
Most card magicians know the Zarrow Shuffle, but far fewer realize just how extensive Herb Zarrow\'s contributions to magic really were. This book goes a long way toward correcting that.
I knew Herb and his wife Phyllis, who lived near our magic shop and stopped in to visit.Herb was a wonderfully unassuming man, especially considering the enormous influence he had on modern card magic.
David Ben has assembled more than 150 tricks, sleights, and refinements, ranging from clever, nearly self-working card effects to some very sophisticated sleight of hand. There\'s also material with coins, rubber bands, and other close-up magic. But the real centerpiece is the definitive treatment of the Zarrow Shuffle, including its history, proper execution, variations, and applications.
What I particularly like is the range of material. There\'s something here for almost every level of card worker, and quite a bit that will challenge even the experienced ones.
Herb supervised the contents before his passing, making this a particularly valuable record of his life\'s work.
See you on the next one, Ted
