Revolutionary War - era document signed by William Hemsley datelined “ Queen Anns County “ (no ‘e’ in Anne there), 1785 , to pay Dr. James Murray , a well-known war physician of Annapolis , born in Kent County , Maryland and with many connections to old Maryland families such as that of Edward Lloyd .
William Hemsley was a colonel of the Queen Anne’s County , MD militia during the Revolution , member of the Continental Congress , and served in the Maryland Constitutional Convention of 1788. He’s associated with the family home Clover Fields in Queen Anne’s County.
