DESCRIPTION: Up for sale is a vintage 1970s Heathkit GC-1005 Digital Alarm Clock, manufactured by Heath Company in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
This iconic clock features a vibrant, warm orange Panaplex (planar gas-discharge) neon display that gives off an unmistakable retro glow. It’s pretty cool!
CONDITION & TESTING DETAILS: • Display: All digits/segments illuminate brightly without dead spots.
• Timekeeping: Plugged in and tested—the seconds hand/counter runs continuously and keeps accurate time (please see included video clip for live demonstration).
• Cosmetic Condition: Good vintage condition with light, expected age-related surface wear to the chassis and woodgrain trim (refer to photos for exact cosmetic details).
• Functionality: Power, display, and timekeeping function as expected when powered on. Change of listing. The alarm totally works and so does the snooze/shut off switch the on back. Makes a seriously strange noise that is probably what folks assumed our digital future would sound like. It’s probably good this is not a typical alarm sound in 2026, however it might be better than that “ship is sinking” alarm ring tone all the old guys have!
1 of the 4 rubber feet has peeled away. See photos.
WHAT IS INCLUDED: • Heathkit GC-1005 Clock unit with attached power cord. Unit is approximately 7”x3” - Cord a long 93”
SHIPPING & HANDLING: USPS Ground Advantage with tracking. Due to the delicate nature of vintage Panaplex glass tubes, this item will be packaged with extreme care—wrapped in generous layers of bubble wrap and shipped in a sturdy, well-padded box to ensure safe arrival.
