This is an authentic hand-carved and hand-painted wood sculpture by renowned Navajo folk artist Harold Willeto, signed and dated 1989 on the underside.

Harold is one of two surviving children of famous Navajo artist Charlie Willeto who was the first among the tribe to carve wood into folk art pieces, and to start the folk art style seen and collected today. Harold followed in his fathers footsteps, but refining Charlies style into his own, more unique pieces, meant to portray the strength and ongoing dependability of Navajo ceremonialism and culture. 12" Tall and Excellent Condition; Signed: "Harold Willeto 89" on bottom. H Willeto only started carving in 1988 so this is one of his earlier works!
It is often said that the Willeto demand is greater than the supply.
Harold Willeto's work is represented in museum collections, including the Smithsonian, and is highly sought after by collectors of Native American and American folk art.
