A P-38 Lightning challenges a pair of Fw190s head on. Breaking up theirattack on
a damaged B-24 Liberator high over Belgium, early 1944.
A B-24 has been damaged and is losing touch with themain bomber formation as Luftwaffe pilots concentrate their attentions on theunfortunate aircraft. Two Fw190s, are closing in for the kill on the damagedB-24 but, seeing the desperate situation, a P-38 escort pilot makes a head-onattack, splitting the pair of Fw190s and ruining their attempt to finish offthe stricken bomber whilst another P-38 also turns in to attack the German fighters.
