An original albumen photograph of a Cairo lemonade seller and a customer, by Hippolyte Arnoux(1860-1891). Arnoux, a Frenchman long resident in Egypt, published volumes of his photographs of monuments, cities, and sites, especially the Suez Canal, and of the people of the country. The image, 7 7/8" by 10 1/4", sight, is matted and framed in a modern aluminum frame, under glass. The frame measures 16 1/2" by 20 7/16". The image is signed in the negative Arnoux 1198(A stock number, I presume.), bottom right, and Vendent de Limenade, bottom left. It is in very good condition, as is the framing and matting, except for a 3/16 diameter, light stain, at the bottom right corner of the mat.
