These Handmade Sterling Silver bits and spurs are in the California Vaquero style. They are custom made for us by Artisans in Amozoc, Puebla, Mexico who have been handcrafting bits and spurs for generations. They are in the style and design of the old masters. Gordon was a long time bit and spur maker and is featured in Ned and Jody Martin's excellent book, Bits & Spurs Motifs, Techniques, and Modern Makers. All his bits were hand made from tool steel, and this little bit is a practical bit that can be used as either a training bit or a legal show bit. In addition to being an incredible silversmith, Gordon was also past member of the Rancheros Vistadores. The bit is in well maintained pre owned condition with some light oxidation on the sweet iron mouthpiece and steel cheeks from storage and light use. This curb bit would be a great bit for the horse that has graduated out of the snaffle bit and is ready for curb pressure and some leverage.

Like all of Gordon's bits, this one is marked GH on the top of the port. The short, seven shank allows you to easily flex the horse's head laterally for correct circles and turns.
