GeorgeC. Wallace was born August 25, 1919 in Clio, Alabama. He diedSeptember 13, 1998. He was an American Democratic politician who wasa four-time governor of Alabama (1963-67, 1971-79, and 1983-87), andwho led the South\'s fight against federally ordered racialintegration in the 1960\'s. George Wallace\'s political career, also, included four offers for the presidency of the United States. In 1964,1972, and 1976 he ran as a Democrat, failing three times to receivethe party\'s nomination. In 1968, running as an American Independent,he was popular enough with voters to secure a nomination and enterthe national race. Richard Nixon ran and won against HubertHumphrey, the Democratic candidate, and George Wallace, a third-partycandidate from the American Independent Party, in the 1968presidential election.
Thethree smaller size brochures depict George Washington of Tulsa, whowas a candidate in the 1968 American Party primary for the U.S.Senate seat in Oklahoma. He secured 57.5% of the vote, defeatingLandis B. Hinker, who received 42.4%. (This was the same politicalparty that George Wallace ran on in 1968, but for the President ofthe United States.)
