Fritz Kreisler, Autograph Clipping, Austrian-American Violinist & Composer For Sale

Fritz Kreisler (1875 - 1962) was a world-renowned Austrian-born American violinist and composer. Considered one of the greatest violin masters of his time, he was celebrated for his sweet, expressive tone and distinctive phrasing. A musical prodigy, he began playing at an early age and entered the Vienna Conservatory at just seven years old, later winning a prestigious prize from the Paris Conservatoire at the age of twelve.
Kreisler's career was marked by both professional triumphs and personal challenges. He briefly served in the Austrian Army during World War I and was wounded in action, an experience he later wrote about in a memoir. Following the war, he continued to tour globally, enchanting audiences with his technical skill and interpretations of classical music. He became an American citizen in 1943 and was a prolific composer of short, charming pieces for the violin, many of which he initially attributed to other composers as a musical prank. He eventually retired from public concerts in 1947 but continued to perform on the radio for several years.
Autograph/Signature clipping was obtained from a vintage scrapbook purchased at a Pack Memorial Public Library antiquarian book sale in Asheville, North Carolina.
