These are beautiful fossil Shark Teeth from Ptychodus whippleifrom the Eagle Ford Group in Dallas, Texas! The teeth are in great condition with no repair or restoration and measure about .45 inches!
Ptychodus isan extinct shark that lived in the middle of the Cretaceous Period and livedthroughout the world’s oceans with fossils being found in North America, SouthAmerica, Europe, and Asia. There are 16 known species, the largest of whichcould reach over 30 feet in length! While Ptychodus looked very similar to mostsharks on the outside it had among the most unique teeth of all sharks. Arounded crown with various patterns of ridges and bumps depending on thespecies. Perfect for crushing the shells of its favorite prey, shellfish andcrusteaceans.
Each Tooth comes in a 3.5 x 3.5 inch floating frame with and info card that labels the fossil and details the age and location it was found and some fun facts about Ptychodus!
