First Lord of the Admiralty, Irish Unionist, MP Sir Edward Carson Signed Letter: $295.00
Sir Edward Carson (1854-1935) Signed LetterCard.5\" x 7\" bifold in very good condition with light creasing and toning.
Interesting personal autograph letter signed by influential British statesman and leader of the Irish Unionist movement Sir Edward Henry Carson. One page, on his personal 5 Eaton Place, S.W.1 stationery, dated 20 March 1925, addressed to Lady Mildmay. Carson writes to express his thanks for a recent dinner engagement and notes that Lady Carson is “going on splendidly,” though not yet well enough to go out, offering a glimpse into his private domestic life during his London retirement. Note: Born in Dublin and trained as a barrister, Carson rose to prominence as a brilliant courtroom advocate before entering Parliament in 1892. Carson became the commanding leader of the Irish Unionist movement, fiercely opposing Home Rule and shaping the political fate of Ireland and the United Kingdom during a period of intense constitutional crisis. He served as Solicitor General, Attorney General, and as First Lord of the Admiralty during the First World War, where he played a key role in naval administration.
