One of the AIs said the following:
The postcard caption likely means a group was leaving the farm of Robert Gronna in Waterville, Iowa, during a 1915 “farm investigation tour.” These were organized agricultural visits where farmers observed and discussed farming practices on local farms; Iowa State College’s agricultural extension program reported conducting 41 such tours in 1914. A local heritage-farm listing identifies Robert Gronna as a Waterville farm owner, with the farm’s origin dated to 1851.
So the card probably records one stop on an educational farm tour, rather than a sightseeing excursion. The caption alone doesn’t establish the tour’s exact date, organizer, route, or what the group investigated at Gronna’s farm.
