Here\'s a fantastic mid century (late 1940s or 1950s) French tabletop tube radio. In the early 2000s I became very interested in French radios, and had many shipped over. The damage rate was very high, with many unfortunately destroyed in transit. With the high cost of shipping, it\'s no longer economically feasible to get radios like this sent to the USA, so here is your chance to get an uncommon radio without dealing with international shipping.
The cabinet is complete and has been refinished. It features a variety of bookmatched veneers, and has a wonderful curved style that you just don\'t see in radios from the USA. The radio was stripped, then grain filled and coated with Mohawk lacquers. The finish was buffed out and looks wonderful. There is no veneer damage. It displays very well. Please look carefully at the photos.
The knobs are present. One has a repaired crack. It presents as a fine line across the knob. It still displays well. Mirror dial looks pretty good. The dial will be removed and packed securely for shipping. If I had to be very picky, there\'s a felt border around the inside of the cabinet around the dial -- some of that is missing. It would be easy for you to cut some gray felt and replace this.
The chassis is unrestored and will need to be gone through by a qualified technician if the radio is to be used. This radio has a multi-tap transformer that allows you to select input voltage. It does have a setting for 125 volts, so you could restore this radio and use it without replacing the transformer. The radio still has its French plug on it and has not been tested or worked on in any way.
The radio will be carefully packed in a sturdy box with bubble wrap and peanuts. I have two shipping services listed -- UPS Ground and FedEx Home Delivery. FedEx is currently a bit cheaper and seems a bit faster. Please pick whichever you prefer.
If the price is too high, please make an offer. I\'m here to move things along!
