SASIENI - VISCOUNT LASCELLES Shape (Bent Billiard) - The 56XS - XS denoting premium from Sasieni Family Era (c.1950-79). If you’re looking for a fantastic English pipe from the years of the English pipe manafacturers buying up the highest grades of Briar - You’ve found it with this SASIENI Englandaire - 565XS Bent Billiard. Naturally finished, this pipe has everything - Great, legible maybe ever so slightly lightly stamped, nomenclature. The stem is ready to be smoked - the stummel has one teeny tiny sandblemish on the heal, hardly visible but worth being upfront about.. . A LARGE chamber that is pre-smoked/broken in and with minor rim darkening and a light tamp marks consistent with careful smoking - a light restoration would resolve this if desired - THIS IS A BEAUTY. Minor rim darkening consistent with careful and conscientious smoking. I’ve reamed the chamber, and cleaned the airways in the shank and stem with 99% alcohol.
The "Viscount Lascelles" (Shape 56) is a highly sought-after, large 3/4 bent Billiard. The "XS" stamping is a rarer designation indicating that it was originally a premium-priced shape across Sasieni’s catalogs due to the difficulty of carving its large, elegant "swan neck" flow!
