FRIEDRICH GORNIK SIGNED AUSTRIAN VIENNA BRONZE SETTER DOG ON DESK INK BLOTTER For Sale

Friedrich Gornik (1877-1943) was an Austrian sculptor specializing in bronzes in the Animalier style. This is an outstanding example of his work, part of a bronze desk set featuring Setter dogs, this being the ink blotter. Signed by the artist and with the foundry mark (see photo). The piece is large and heavy, with the Setter dog displaying a wonderfully relaxed seated pose with fine detail and modeling. Lovely aged patina. Measures 6\" tall by 6 5/8\" long by 3 1/4\" deep. The wood block under the bronze is in fine condition and many of the original blotting papers are still attached and intact. A superb piece for the serious collector.
