Exceptional 9-Piece Mid-19th Century Midwestern Family CDV Photo Archive
Featuring Civil War Revenue Stamps, Cavalry/Field Attire, & Rare Wabash, Indiana Regional Imprints
Up for sale is a fascinating, historically significant lot of nine (9) original 1860s–1870s Carte de Visite (CDV) photographs. This collection functions as an intact, interconnected family archive tracing a mid-19th-century family line with roots in both Hocking County, Ohio and Wabash County, Indiana.
A remarkable physical feature of this archive is that several cards bear matching historical puncture holes/remnants from an original binding thread. Before mass-produced photo albums were common, families bound their lineages together with ribbons or twine. This structural detail confirms these individuals belonged to the same family tree.
