Evan K. Shaw Pottery - Pluto Figurine in Glazed Ceramic for Disney early 1940's
Size: Approx 3.5" x 4" x 6.75", .75 lbsAn impressive ceramic figurine inspired by the Disney Studios adorable animated character Pluto. Featuring an intricately detailed Pluto begging on his hind legs, the piece was created by Evan K. Shaw Pottery in the 1940s. Through the 1940s and 1950s, the Evan K. Shaw Pottery company and its sister companies, Metlox and American Pottery, produced a wide range of ceramics. In 1943, they were granted approval as a licensee to produce a range of Disney characters. These companies are no longer in business, and their highly desirable figurines are increasingly rare.Measuring 3.5" x 4" and 6.75" tall, he's very solid; approx .75 pounds. Pluto is in very good condition - overallthere is very little to no crazing; the ceramic glaze is inremarkable condition after 80+ years! Commensurate with a piece from the 40's, there are minor hairline cracks see both ears as in photo, fleabites in collar & tail, extra ceramic material(?) in one corner of base that do not impact him sitting while displayed. Overall, there is very little to no crazing.A wonderful piece of Disney history for your collection!
