Evaline Clarke Sellors was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1903. She studied art,illustration, and modeling before enrolling at the prestigious PennsylvaniaAcademy of Fine Arts. Sellors won the institutions' William Emlen Cressonscholarship in 1929 and 1930, allowing her to study sculpture in Europe. Afterreturning to Texas, Sellors co-founded The Texas School of Arts in 1932 withSallie Gillespie and Blanche McVeigh. Sellors and McVeigh were also foundingmembers of the Fort Worth Artists Guild. Sellors taught art at a number ofinstitutions in the Fort Worth while executing commissions for the WorksProgress Administration (WPA). Examples of her work are in the collections ofthe Dallas Museum of Art.
