Eros Paola Bussi 52 Playing Cards Limited Edition 500 Italian Artist Deck
Eros is a collectible 52-card playing-card deck featuring artwork by Italian artist Paola Bussi, issued in a limited edition of 500 copies. Dating to around 1980, it belongs to the tradition of Italian artist-designed cards, in which the familiar playing-card format becomes a vehicle for an individual artistic interpretation.
The title references Eros, the classical figure associated with love and desire, establishing the deck’s thematic focus. Bussi’s treatment brings this subject into the context of a complete playing-card series, connecting an established recreational object with the collecting interests of art and illustrated-card enthusiasts.
As a 52-card deck, Eros offers a different format from the Major Arcana editions frequently associated with Italian art-card publishing. Its interest lies in the adaptation of playing cards into a cohesive artist-designed work, suitable for examining as a series or displaying within a collection of illustrated decks.
The edition size of 500 copies adds particular appeal for collectors of small-run Italian publications. It is an interesting acquisition for those collecting Paola Bussi’s work, vintage artist playing cards, and decks exploring the themes of love and eroticism.
