Epic Antique Paris France Tall Portrait Vase 19th c Gilt Mask Handles 17” Sevres For Sale

A truly magnificent piece of porcelain! The quality of the form and decoration of this piece is totally standout. It sets itself apart from the majority of work on first view. This one is literally a masterpiece in porcelain decoration. It is signed but I can’t identify the signature. It is certainly done in Paris, France. I’d think during the second half of the 19th century. It has a great presence at a smidge over 17” tall. The colors and form are very dramatic, without being ostentatious. The liberal gilding is somehow modest. The central portrait medallion is almost photo like in its clarity. The deep blue green handles almost make the cobalt blue leaves look purple in comparison. The condition is excellent save for two minor flaws. There is a chip to the pinnacle of one handle. A former owner has color corrected this chip a bit and it actually works well. In photos the chip is apparent but I’ve honestly never even noticed it when viewing the vase in person. Secondly there is a tight totally insignificant spider crack in the center of the base. It will survive another 150+ years with it never being an issue. This large vase came to me from a high end New England sale house. It will ship ASAP!

Free Boston area pickup. I’d discourage international purchase of this piece. Being so fragile and large it will be a bit risky to move it around the world. Domestic shipping is probably safer on this one.

Thanks
