I own an advertising specialty company - now in our 47th year I am happy to report - and worked in the industry for many years prior to establishing my own firm. Over the years we produced many unusual advertising items and collected a wide array of specialty samples. We are now in semi-retirement and offering much of that collection on .
While searching through a box of old samples, I happened upon an over-run sample from an order produced in 1969. This was long before we started our company, but rather an order sold by my former employer - who much later presented it to me. In 1969 I was a newly minted Second Lieutenant serving at fort Riley, Kansas prior to being deployed to a tour in Vietnam.

Among our better suppliers of custom printed glassware was a company called Houze Art, located in Point Marion, PA. Houze was a leader in this field of the industry. In the late 1970's Houze developed a charming proprietary glass with a slight greenish glow. They called it "SwedishGlass", and it is exquisitein appearance. Houze offered it in just a few shapes, with the most popular being round and oval. On this example Houze encrust and kiln fire the Emory University crest along with copy commemorating an event they sponsored at Sea Island, GA in 1969! in genuine gold. Emblazoned on the oval, it is exquisite. Being fired in genuine gold, this fine tray is hand wash only and it will retain it's outstanding luster. The size is 8.25" x 6.125".
Although the tray was named a Swedish Oval, it was actually made and decorated in the U.S.A., but was produced from a Swedish glass.
As mentioned, while this sample is old, but in as new condition! No flaws or blemishes, and of course never used. This sample has been stored in a sealed container in one of our climate controlled sample rooms for most of its life. It will be expertly packaged to guarantee safe arrival.
