Queen (Pharaoh) Hatshepsut’s Ship from her expedition to the land of Punt in the 15th century B.C.
Queen Hatshepsut ruled for 22 years, during her reign she took on a challenge and commissioned the building of a sea-faring ships which sailed down the Red Sea to the land of Punt, althoughthe exact location of this place has been lost as its actual exact location, she left us a great deal of information on the walls of her temple of Deir el Bahari or “Djeser Djeseru” as they call it at the timesof the Queen and the translation would be: “Holy of Hollies\". The ships of Hatshepsut are the first which we know for sure that sail in the ocean, they would be constructed at the Nile shores, then take it apartand transported with donkeys across the desert to the Red Sea coast, there would be re-armed like a jigsaw puzzle and navigate to Punt.
Just thinking that these ships were constructed without a single nail and that they hold together by ropes is something kind of hard for our modern minds, but for sure the word impossible wasnot known for the ancient Egyptians... This replica boat, has been handmade (that made it a one of a kind, be sure that you have something unique, is no other copies in the world) using cedar and acacia (same types of woodused for the Egyptians), everything has been made respecting the historical record, nothing more nothing less, is strictly historical.
I have been making ancient Egyptian’s boats for a long time, especially replicas of the boats found at Tutankhamen’s tomb, but I do a lot of different wooden Egyptian objects, (I’mfascinated by ancient Egyptian history) and always trying to be honest using the same materials that they use. This boat took a long time to make, I almost work on special orders, but from time to time I do this kind of workjust for the pleasure of making it.
I have not got much response (but the ones that I have are all good) because I do not sale here very often, like I said I work mostly on special orders. The boat will be shipped very carefullypackaged, and tracking numbers as well pics of the package will be provided.
I did sell through and Etsy to: Australia, Spain, USA, Russia, Taiwan, France, Germany and England, anyway all the transaction will be monitored by and that gives peace of mind foryou and for me, I will answer any questions the same day.
Thank you.
