Vintage East Germany (German Democratic Republic) Flag – Approx. 3’ x 5’Offered is a vintage flag of the former German Democratic Republic (East Germany), featuring the official state emblem of the hammer and compass surrounded by a wreath of grain.East Germany existed from 1949 until German reunification in 1990, making this a historical flag from a country that no longer exists. The emblem version shown here was used from 1959 through reunification and is one of the most recognizable symbols of the Cold War era.This flag came from a collection of vintage international flags and appears to date from approximately the late 1960’s Unlike many modern novelty flags, this example is constructed from nylon with sewn color panels, reinforced header, and metal grommets. The central East German emblem is visible on both sides.Condition:This is a vintage, pre-owned flag. It has been folded and stored for many years and shows the expected creasing associated with long-term storage. There may be minor staining, marks, discoloration, or age-related wear from storage and prior use.
