I\'m selling one of my recent Duncan Miller model 50 parking meter restorations. This meter features a nickel-dime, 4 hour mechanism that gives an hour for a nickel, two hours for a dime, and has a very strong clock. It comes with the rear door and coin tray, as well as the key.
For this one, I sandblasted and then used filler primer and light silver hammer tone paint. I did not fill every little imperfection in the housing and you can see a few of those spots around the instruction plate but those are the only noticeable imperfections. The light silver hammer tone gives it a textured look, and I didn’t go overboard with the paint.Handle has been painted with the hammer tone as well, as has the coin slot. Pictures show off the coverage of the paint very well.
Inside of the door compartment is repainted, though the inside of the door is the original paint; I didn\'t repaint that part. If you open the housing all the way up, the inside of the housing is not repainted either. The violation flag is original and in fantastic shape, time expired flag has been repainted and re-printed. Check the pictures to see how it turned out.
Front instruction plate is a nice clean replica. The rate plate on the back is a new replica that matches the coins and amount of time that you get. Lock is a beautiful shiny silver one with a matching key. The concept for this meter was not to put every single hour I could into it, but to make it look as good as possible in a reasonable amount of time. Windows are super clear.
Mechanism is a really clean 5-10 with a far above average time dial on it. I\'ve tuned this one up really nicely and have run it down from 4 hours multiple times.
Personally, I’d call this restoration maybe an eight out of 10, possibly 8 1/2 out of 10 where 10 is an absolutely perfect one. Nice slick, clean look and a very solid timing mechanism which is getting hard and harder to find with these. Reach out if you want more pictures or have any questions!
