In this soon to be quarter century old videocassette from 2002 which is still on DVD by pentrex like all of the other Donner Rails titles, there is a ton of snow busting action in the dark on Southern Pacific’s former transcontinental line between Reno Nevada & Roseville California, that also includes other freight trains on Union Pacific, BNSF, Chicago & Northwestern, & Amtrak’s California Zephyr.
Along the way, there are some helicopter angles from the sky, & vintage films & still images in the winter of 1952 & much earlier decades ago, including one picture of future famous surviving 4-6-0 number 2248 on the fire train, plus interviews with photographer Richard Steinheimer, James Mahon, Ken Yeo, Mike Pechner, Doris Bourgeois, Edward Alexander, Lyndon Ferrar, John Kuehl, Edward Wiseman, David Bowler, Terrence Bell, Richard Shorrock, & Bill Toland.
Some of these vintage films in this program was also shown on 2 pentrex titles: SP Film Archives Volume 2 from 1999, & the SP Cab Forward Collection from 2007.
