Donato Giancola, born in 1967 in Vermont, is an acclaimed American artist known for his narrative realism in science fiction and fantasy art. He studied painting at Syracuse University, shifting from engineering. Giancola blends classical influences with modern fantasy, inspired by masters like Caravaggio. His notable work includes over 200 book covers and illustrations for major IPs such as \"The Lord of the Rings,\" with acclaimed Tolkien-themed paintings like Frodo and Saruman. He has also contributed to Magic: The Gathering cards and projects for Wizards of the Coast and LucasFilm. Giancola teaches at the School of Visual Arts and has won Hugo and World Fantasy Awards.
