Original vintage 8x10 press photograph of balloonist Don Piccard and his “Golden Bear” high-altitude balloon.
Dated September 1961 (noted on reverse), documenting Piccard’s record-setting stratosphere flight reaching approximately 35,800 feet, surpassing a prior Russian-held altitude mark.
Reverse includes original caption strip, editorial markings, and archival notations. Authentic period press photo, not a modern reproduction.
Condition: Shows age-related wear including edge wear, surface marks, and staining on the reverse from original caption placement. Image displays well with strong contrast.
Excellent piece for aviation, aeronautics, and space-race era collectors.
