Item: Disneyland Official30th Year Birthday Party VIP INVITATION
Date: July 17, 1985
Description: Select VIP'swere extended this complimentary invitation (and free parking) for Disneyland's24 hour celebration of the park's 30th Anniversary.
Walt Disney is pictured inside the invitation during thedress rehearsal for Disneyland's "opening day" dedication ofFantasyland on July 17, 1955
Guests were invited to contact the Disneyland Publicitydepartment to RSVP for the VIP and guest, and to coordinate their preferredarrival time.
Notably, the invitation mentions a rededication ceremonytaking place at 2:30pm that day... claiming that to be "the hour at whichWalt Disney originally dedicated Disneyland." In reality... the July17, 1955 dedication actually took place on the live coast-to-coast televisionbroadcast at approx. 4:30pm (Pacific).
An exceptionally rare VIP invitation to this major event inDisneyland history... beautifully preserved for future generations.
Measurement: approx.5.5" x 8"
Condition: Excellent;previously sealed and carefully re-opened to allow for full display withoutdamaging outer envelope. Envelopes and cards were pre-sealed... beforeaddressing the envelopes to select VIPs. This is among the few examplesthat were not mailed, but was preserved when all necessary invitations had beenmailed.
