High over London Hurricanes of 85 Squadron engage Bf109's in afurious dogfight, during the intense fightingof the Battle of Britain - August1940.
It is August 1940 and Hurricanesof 85 Sqn based at Duxford, are locked in close combat with MesserschmittBf109Es high over the Thames Estuary. The fighters engage at full throttle,turning and diving, each trying to get the other in his sights and the vaportrails of combat weave through the summer sky as the battle rages on.
July 10th to October 31st 1940 - The Battle of Britain, a monumentalevent in British history and a major turning point of WWII. During those fewsummer months the RAF and Luftwaffe fought what was to become one of the mostcrucial and decisive aerial conflicts in history. Never before or since has aircombat been so intense over such a period of time.
