Striking solid cast-glass ship\'s deck prism in an exceptionally deep cobalt blue.

This six-sided pyramidal prism is a reproduction of the historic glass deck prisms used aboard sailing ships to bring natural daylight into the spaces below deck.

The color is particularly beautiful and unusually saturated. In ordinary light the thick cobalt glass appears extremely dark—nearly black in places—while transmitted light reveals a rich, luminous cobalt blue.

The solid cast glass contains small trapped bubbles and subtle surface irregularities consistent with the casting process. The surfaces are smooth and glossy, giving the piece a wonderfully substantial feel.

Today these prisms make fascinating maritime collectibles and are equally appealing as nautical decor, window prisms, sculptural glass objects or substantial paperweights.
