About Moshe Castel
Born in Jerusalem in 1909 to a rabbinic family, Moshe Castel entered the prestigious Bezalel Art School at only 13 years old. He later spent 13 years studying and working in Paris before returning to Israel, eventually making his home in the mystical northern city of Safed.
Castel developed a distinctive artistic language inspired by Jewish heritage, Sephardic culture, ancient texts, and the landscapes of Israel. His work became renowned for its vivid colors, unusual materials, metallic finishes, and expressive textures.
His art has been exhibited internationally and has been displayed at distinguished institutions and locations including the Knesset in Jerusalem, Rockefeller Center in New York, and the President’s residence in Jerusalem.
