This is an authentic vintage Dayak (Dyak) hand-carved wooden lizard plaque from Kalimantan, Borneo, Indonesia. The piece features a central guardian lizard surrounded by traditional swirling aso (mythic dog-dragon) motifs, all carved in deep relief from a dense tropical hardwood. These carvings were traditionally used as protective house charms, believed to bring luck and ward off harmful spirits.
The carving shows excellent detail with strong tribal patterning and a naturally aged patina.
Good vintage condition with expected surface wear, minor edge marks, and age-related patina consistent with mid-20th century tribal carvings. Wire hanger on back for display. No repairs noted.
