I am selling a very special Dansk wood item!
This piece is a serving tray. It is part of the Dansk Rare Woods Collection.
My husband and I recently went to a local estate sale, the house was loaded with fantastic items. The lady bought top quality, and plenty of it. This Dansk tray is one of those great finds.
This piece was designed by famed Dansk artist Jens Quistgaard. He created the Rare Woods Collection in the early 1960s. Even more than 60 years ago, the Rare Woods pieces were limited in production and quite costly. To own one was to have a piece of art.
This serving tray is made of Pao Rosa hardwood, which would have come from central or West Africa. Due to the nature of Pao Rosa, sometimes the wood sections would start to warp or separate.
The tray features a teak butcher block center section, with Pao Rosa flared sides. It measures 17 3/8” long, is 9 7/8” wide across the center butcher block section and is 10” in diameter across the rim and is 11 5/8” wide across the outside edges.
The tray is marked with an incised mark on the bottom and an image of the Pao Rosa tree. The mark reads

Condition is amazing! There is one place on the side where two pieces of the Pao Rosa have separated just wee bit. These pieces have not come apart, but just like your hardwood floors, there is a bit more space between them that has occurred over time. Scarcely any sign of use or wear, and no damage at all.
A beautiful and useful item for your home, and a wonderful addition to your tabletop or Dansk collection.
