Autographed legal opinion signed "Danl Dulany," dated 15th 9ber (November) 1763, by Daniel Dulany the Younger (1722-1797), the celebrated Maryland lawyer, Governor's Council member, and author of the most influential pamphlet against the Stamp Act.
In this letter, Dulany advises the executor of an estate with property in England, likely on behalf of a Maryland client. He explains that the Bank of England will not release a deceased person's assets to an executor without formal English probate, that estate papers issued in the colonies carry no legal weight in England (and vice versa), and how to prepare the required inventory of British property for the Prerogative Court. He closes with a firsthand recollection from his own years handling probate as head of Maryland's Commissary General's office.
Condition: Good overall for age. Note toning, fold creases, and scattered small stains/tiny holes. Presents well.
