Dalecraft Painted Metal Collie or Shetland Sheepdog Dog Pin 1950\'s HTF Vintage For Sale

This is an interesting metal pin in the shape of a standing Collie dog or Shetland Sheepdog (it was almost certainly meant to be a Collie but looks more like a Sheltie to me). It measures just over 2 inches long by just under 1 3/4 inches tall. It is in very good condition. This is a “Dalecraft” pin. “Dalecraft” was a smallish business based in Pennsylvania, and was active around the 1940\'s. I also notice a very strong resemblance to a series of small dog woodcarvings from around this same time period; I believe the molds for these metal pins were taken from those little carved dogs; they are the same size, too. I\'ve also seen a postcard advertising a company called “Dalecraft” in West Lawn, Pa. that sold what look like metal dog plaques around this same time. I suspect these pins are from the same company. I\'d guess they are from the late 1940\'s or the 1950\'s, or maybe as late as the 1960\'s. The pin is not very heavy; it\'s probably cast aluminum; a magnet does not stick to it.
