EXTREMELY RARE CORGI MAJOR 1103 CHUBB PATHFINDER – YELLOWBelieved to be one of only six yellow examples producedOffered for sale is an exceptionally rare Corgi Major No. 1103 Chubb Pathfinder Airport Crash Truck, finished in yellow rather than the normal production red.Specialist Corgi records state that just six examples of the 1103 were produced in yellow in 1974. The proposed yellow version did not enter normal production, with the production model subsequently being sold in red.This particular example has a fascinating long-term family history.It was given to me many years ago by my grandfather, Denis Weiner, who was Chairman of the major British civil-engineering contractor Sir Lindsay Parkinson & Co Ltd during the early 1970s.I have owned it since receiving it from my grandfather.I do not know precisely how he originally acquired the model and therefore make no claim that it was presented directly to him by Chubb. However, his senior position in the engineering industry at the time may be relevant to its history.Other surviving yellow examples are known to have connections with Chubb Fire Security, including an example reportedly presented by Chubb to a major commercial customer.THE MODELCorgi Major No. 1103

Original Pathfinder/Airport Fire Brigade markingsThe model is unrestored and play-worn.There is considerable paint loss and wear, as shown clearly in the photographs. I have deliberately made no attempt to repaint, touch in, polish or otherwise restore the model.Of particular interest, the yellow finish extends around the underside and recessed areas of the casting. In numerous areas where the paint has chipped, it appears to reveal the bare die-cast metal beneath rather than a previous red finish.The underside carries the correct moulded:CORGI MAJOR
