Congressman Josiah Gardner Abbott Rare Photo Massachusetts Political Politician For Sale

Rare original portrait of Abbott, taken by Allen & Rowell, Boston. Josiah Gardner Abbott (1814-1891) served in the United States House of Representatives from Massachusetts from 1876 to 1877. He also served in the Massachusetts General Court. A Harvard graduate, Abbott practiced law and taught schools before beginning his political career. He also served as a member of the Massachusetts state constitutional convention, justice of the superior court for Suffolk County, and as an overseer of Harvard University. Cabinet card is 6.5\" x 4.25\" and in overall very good antique condition, with some minor damage in the upper-right corner. Dated on the back 1889.
