Colt-Design Pocket Flask Pre-Civil War Design .31 cal Patriotic "Eagle on a Hummock" Vintage Antique. This is a very nice Standing Eagle powder flask that goes with a Colt Baby Dragoon and the Colt 1849 Pocket Model. Standing eagle in relief on both sides, with good detail. There are three rows of cannon balls under the talons, flask in right talon, and revolver in left talon. Top is gilded with a fire blue spring. Most gilding is worn off. All seams are tight. The spring and spout work correctly and the standing eagle on both sides has good detail. Body has a nice brown patina. Brass top collar has nice patina with two hand-cut steel screws. Pivot pin is steel centered in brass thumb lever. The original spout operates perfectly. Minor dents on side and spot of what appears to be adhesive from a price label. Lacks "Colt Patent" marking. 4 1/2" OAL, 2" width. Maker and date of manufacture unknown. See photos for details. Will be a great little flask to go with an antique pistol display.
